This research line includes topics related to:

the development of analytical methods for quantifying early markers of inflammation, to encourage the adoption of preventive measures and reducing both infections and therapeutic treatments,
the development and application of biosafety measures, as well as measures for infection prevention and control,
the identification of alternative breeding systems, based on animal welfare and genetic mechanisms of resistance to diseases, and the identification of the mechanisms underlying innate immunity and microbiome,
the identification of the molecular mechanisms underlying the onset of resistance to pharmacological treatments, thus limiting their effectiveness,
monitoring the effectiveness of new approaches in primary production (e.g. the implementation of alternative treatments or molecules or the adoption of good practices for breeding),
use of probiotics or natural and synthetic peptides in the animal diet.
