Presentation - Third Mission

In addition to teaching and research, the University of Turin also pursues the so-called "third mission". This comprises a range of activities the academic world seeks to explore with the aim of further enhancing cooperation with the local social context by directly applying, valuing and using knowledge. This not only contributes to social, cultural and economic development, but also provides a 'link' between civil society, local community and industry. In this respect, each University facility is committed to communicate and disseminate knowledge by means of a direct relationship with the local community and all parties involved. The "third mission" concept was first introduced during the EU Conference in Lisbon of 2000, where a strategic growth target based on knowledge, research and innovation was presented.
