Classrooms and Laboratories
All Veterinary Medicine Bachelor/Degree lessons are held on the Grugliasco Campus, in Largo Paolo Braccini 2, 10095, Grugliasco (TO). Classrooms are equipped with thin clients connected to University Wi-Fi and video projection system with LCD and/or large screen. Most classrooms have overhead projectors
"Grey Building". This is a two-storeyed building shared with the Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences and Technologies. It includes the University Students’ Office (“Segreteria studenti”), shared with the Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences and Technologies and administrative premises including the Director’s office and the Teaching Affairs Secretary office. Laboratory Study stations in the Yellow Building Hall "Blue Building" "Red Building" "Lilac Building" A lecture in "Aula Godina" BUILDING G ("Centro Incontro Studenti"). It includes: Wi-fi and four photocopiers are available in the study area. There is also a small library where students may consult teaching materials and scientific books. Inside view of the "aula 11" reserved to the Department of Veterinary Sciences The Anatomy dissection lab is on the ground floor of the lilac-coloured building and is where students do practical activities on the Veterinary Anatomy courses. It covers an area of about 150 square meters, seats 40 and can only be accessed when a teacher is present. It has eight dissection tables: six mobile dissection tables and two dissection tables fixed aspirated for small-to-medium-sized animals. The anatomy lab has 12 sinks for students, four horizontal freezers for storing the material used during class, two portable surgical lighting units, two metal cabinets with glass doors for storing the tools and accessories used during the lessons eg individual teacher protection devices, an electric bone-cutter saw, a clipper, two ribs. It also has a roll-up tube for washing the room, one camera with a projector for transmitting images to other classrooms and a horse skeleton hanging on a wall. There is also a white board and a thin client station. Two additional rooms lead on to the dissection room: a lab where corpses are prepared containing a mobile dissection table and a large sink with sink waste disposal for washing preparations, a chemical hood, a horizontal freezer and tool cabinets. The second room contains two large fridge/freezer cells, two vacuum cabinets for chemical reagents, a chemical hood for the fixed material, some cabinets, a photo lab and a warehouse for storing individual protective equipment used during the exercises. The dissection room is accessed via an antechamber that serves as a dressing room where students change into individual protective equipment. Two Microscopy Teaching laboratories are available at the Department of Veterinary Sciences: These laboratories are used mostly for practical training sessions. Microscopy Laboratory 1: binocular microscopes one for each student Microscopy Laboratory 2: Multiple Microscopes -1 instructor for 9 students The necropsy lab is an area dedicated to the dissection of animal corpses and to the identification of lesions and causes of death. It seats 120 students and is equipped with 11 dissection tables: two dissection tables for large animals; seven fixed dissection tables used for medium-sized animals and exercises with organs as well as two dissection tables used for small animals. The Department of Veterinary Sciences has two Computer Labs (located in the Lilac Building). The smaller is provided with 21 PCs for students and 1 for the instructor, the larger with 28 PCs for students and 1 for the instructor. All the PCs are standard with the same pr ograms installed. The instructor PCs, unlike the other computers, are also connected to a central video-projector system. Computer Laboratory 1: 21 stations for students Computer Lab 2: 28 student PCs The Department of Veterinary Sciences is provided with a spacious and bright study area shared with the Department of the Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences. The area is composed by three halls, each with a capacity of 56 students, all facing on a little green area. In the study area students can benefit of the Internet Wire-less services and of 4 photocopy machines.In addition, a library office is located within the study area. In this office students may consult teaching materials and scientific books. The osteology room is located in the Lilac building, first floor.
The Department of Veterinary Sciences is also provided with numerous study areas located within the Learning Center (Centro Didattico) (seating up to 134 students) and within the Department buildings (seating up to 56 students).
